Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Community Members,
Welcome to Prairie Winds 2017, the DC3 literary and art magazine. As you scroll through the pages, you will find written works from students, faculty and community members (including our friends at DCHS), as well as original art by some of our highly talented students. The works within encompass everything from personal essays to short fiction stories, from the universal to the unique. Grab a cup of tea, sit back, and enjoy the read.

Students/community members who wish to contribute to the literary magazine must be aware of several regulations. Works accepted for publication must sign off on their acceptance of these regulations
1. While this magazine is primarily intended for creative works such as short stories, poetry and visual art, creative nonfiction such as travel writing and personal/expository essays may also be included. 2. Works in English and Spanish are welcome. Works in other languages should include a professional-level translation into English or Spanish order to ensure quality and reach the largest possible audience. Translations are the responsibility of the author. For French/English translations, contact Ms. O'Neil at [email protected]. 3. The college will retain rights to the work for one academic year. After that, the work reverts to the original owner. 4. In the event that we do not receive sufficient submissions for a fall edition, accepted works may be held over for the spring edition. 5. Works that have been previously published but not copyrighted (such as items posted by the submitting party to social media) are allowed. 6. We do not accept copyrighted material. This includes fanfiction. Writers who wish to include fanfiction in the magazine must change the content substantially so that it no longer reflects the original source material. This includes changing character names, setting and any identifying plot elements. 7. Submission is not a guarantee of publication. Works requiring substantial revision may be returned to the author for editing. 8. Writers/artists are urged to remember that while this is intended as an outlet for creativity, the magazine also represents Dodge City Community College. Content that does not reflect well on the college may be rejected. |
